First Holy Communion Preparation

Bouveret, Last Supper

Welcome, families!  We are thrilled that we have the opportunity to journey with you & your child toward the wonderful Sacrament of Reconciliation & the Most Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharist!

On this page, you’ll find the basic information about what’s required for the process and what’s coming up soon.

Preparation for these sacraments generally begins in FIRST GRADE, and the reception of the two sacraments generally happens toward the end of SECOND GRADE.

Don’t worry, if your child has missed that usual schedule, we are equipped to help them get back on track with their faith formation!  We always want children to join us and continue their journey with and toward Jesus!

What’s coming up next?

Requirements for Year 1

Parents of children in Year 1 of preparation MUST ATTEND MONTHLY PARENT MEETINGS.
Meetings will be Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:15pm, once a month.
**Both of these parent meetings will be offered in English & Spanish.
**In addition to attending this meeting, parents must turn in a copy of their child’s baptismal certificate that we will keep on file in the parish or school office.

Requirements for Year 2

Parents of children in Year 2 of preparation MUST ATTEND MONTHLY PARENT MEETINGS.

**In addition to attending the meetings, every family with a child in Year 2 of preparation must attend the annual Family Retreat.  This retreat helps children & families learn more about the Sacraments and get excited for the upcoming celebration of Holy Eucharist.
**This retreat is also the time when the child will receive First Reconciliation.**
**The retreat is MANDATORY in order for a child to receive First Holy Communion.
